Exclusive: Jacob Tremblay On How 'My Father’s Dragon' Prepared Him For Roles Like Luca + Flounder

Last weekend, we attended the North American premiere of My Father’s Dragon, and got to ask Jacob Tremblay about how his work on the project impacted his work on Luca, and his preparations for his role as Flounder in The Little Mermaid (2023).

How does working on this film affect projects like Luca and future projects such as The Little Mermaid?

“So what's interesting is that I actually recorded this before I recorded Luca, it was far away from Luca, since it was animation — we did it like three years ago. So it was a while. But it was cool because I actually got to work with Gaten. While going into other animation, I had already learned so much information about the process from My Father's Dragon, which helped with Luca and with future things.”

Catch Jacob and the rest of the cast of My Father’s Dragon in select theaters November 4, and hitting Netflix on November 11. Keep an eye out for our review of the movie coming later this week.
