Harrison Ford Is Joining The MCU

During an appearance on The Hot Mic Podcast, Jeff Snider reported that Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner) is joining the MCU as Thunderbolt Ross and will make his debut appearance in Captain America: New World Order.

Ford will assume the role replacing the late William Hurt who passed earlier this year and had been playing the character for over 13 years.

This comes after a rumor from earlier this month that stated the same thing, while also reporting that Ford would appear as Ross in Thunderbolts. Additionally, it’s likely that Ford has been cast in the role since before the D23 Expo, where he would’ve likely been announced in the role, but the studio decided against the announcement so as to not overshadow Indiana Jones 5.

Additionally, Ford has shot down any interest in joining the MCU in the past, so why now? Well the presumable answer, is money.

A role like this for these two projects is straightforward, with shooting overlaps to occur, so Ford can shoot his part in both films in the span of a few weeks. On top of this, if he ended up becoming Red Hulk, that wouldn’t require much work for him, as it’d be mostly CGI and motion capture, some of which won’t even require him to be in the costume.
