'The Flash'

More than a year after the teaser trailer, the first official trailer for The Flash has finally been released and gives us a better idea of the film’s story. The official trailer gives us our first looks at Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ezra Miller as multiple versions of Barry Allen/The Flash. Read the full synopsis for The Flash here:

Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annhilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrafice be enough to reset the universe?

Based on the trailer and synopsis, it’s clear that the film will follow the popular Flashpoint comic storyline where Barry time travels to the past to stop the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother, but returns to a very different future from the one he knows.
