‘Among Us’ Animated Series In Development At CBS Studios
Among Us, the murder mystery-based video game that became famous during the COVID Pandemic in 2020, is being adapted into an animated series at CBS Studios.
CBS is developing the series under CBS Eye Animation Productions while partnering with Innersloth, the studio behind the game, which launched in 2018. Under a deal with CBS, Infinity Train creator Owen Dennis is set to serve as the series’ creator and executive producer.
The series is directly adapting the video game, set aboard a spaceship where one to two “crewmates” are deemed murderous “impostors,” tasked with eliminating the majority of the innocent members of their team before the crewmates can complete a set of tasks, saving the ship, or before they identify the impostors.
The show’s official logline reads, “Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Impostor’ or fall victim to its murderous designs.” It seems that the series won’t be a direct adaptation of the game, adding the additional layer of an alien shapeshifter aboard, but will faithfully adapt its story — one that varies game-to-game.
The series is being animated by Titmouse, the studio behind shows like Big Mouth and Star Trek: Lower Decks, with Antonio Canobbio, Ben Kalina, Chris Prynoski, and Shannon Prynoski, and producing on their end alongside Innersloth’s Marcus Bromander, Carl Neisser and Forest Willard.
