Live Action 'How to Train Your Dragon' In The Works

Universal has officially announced that a live-action adaptation of their 2010 animated film, How to Train Your Dragon, is in development. Filmmaker Dean DeBlois, who led the original animated trilogy, is on board for the project in the roles of writer, director, and producer.

A press release from the studio revealed that the film is already deep into the development process, with the casting process already underway. Additionally, Marc Platt (La La Land, Wicked) has boarded the project as a producer alongside Adam Siegel, president of Marc Platt Productions.

It’s interesting to see Universal take this step, as audiences have generally been against live-action adaptations of iconic animated films, seen primarily through Disney’s recent live-action endeavors.
