2023 Cannes Film Festival Award Winners
Regarded as the first official Oscars precursor, the Cannes Film Festival has announced the winners of their 2023 awards. This year, 21 films screened in official competition, voted on by a jury comprised of President Ruben Östlund (2022 Palme d’Or winner for Triangle of Sadness), Paul Dano, Julia Ducournau (2021 Palme d’Or winner for Titane), Brie Larson, Denis Ménochet, Rungano Nyoni, Atiq Rahimi, Damián Szifrón, and Maryam Touzani.
It’s not uncommon for Palme winners to use this success as a stepping stone when heading into awards season — last year’s Palme winner, Triangle of Sadness, was eventually able to pick up three Oscar nominations for Best Original Screenplay, Director, and Picture.
