Margot Robbie Is Thinking About Death In New 'Barbie' Trailer
The third trailer for Barbie was just released and is finally giving some insight into what the film’s story will look like, aside from having most of your favorite actors and being a fun movie, that is. We start in Barbieland, where today, yesterday, and tomorrow are all perfect in every way imaginable. Whether it's the dance parties with custom bespoke songs or the outfits waiting for you when you wake up, nothing could be worse for the Barbies.
It seems like everything will be perfect for Barbie until, like everyone, she has an existential crisis and begins to wonder about death. This leads her to Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) as she hopes to fix the symptoms that have ended the perfection in her life. She finds herself in the real world alongside Ken (Ryan Gosling) as they work together to find the true meaning of the universe. Unfortunately, the Mattel CEO (Will Ferrell) is not happy about this and needs to “Put this Barbie back in her box.”
“After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.” — Warner Bros.
Barbie arrives in theaters on July 21. Also releasing on the 21st is Barbie the Album. The first track — by Dua Lipa — is available to be streamed now. Watch the new trailer below:
