2023 CinemaCon Major Schedule Announced
Last Updated: February 22.
The tentative schedule for this year’s CinemaCon has been announced and brings us a good idea of the big announcements and early screenings for press in late April.
Sony Pictures will be the first studio to take the stage on Monday, April 24, and is expected to bring new footage and potential film announcements. Last year, the studio brought updates on projects such as Bullet Train, The Woman King, & Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, showing audiences the first 15 minutes of the latter film. This year, it’s likely that they’ll show extensive footage from ATSV and may debut the first looks at projects like Kraven The Hunter.
On April 25, Warner Bros. will give their presentation, likely bringing new footage from Barbie and The Flash. This would also be a likely time for James Gunn and Peter Safran to reveal more of their DC slate, which is expected to announce any minute. Later that day, a major studio will screen an upcoming film, which is currently unknown. Last year’s screening was the first-ever major screening of Top Gun: Maverick, and this year’s film could be any upcoming title from Warner Bros., Disney, Sony, Paramount, Universal, or Lionsgate.
UPDATE: On February 22, Variety announced that this year’s secret screening will feature The Flash, which will be screened in its entirety over six weeks before the official release.
Walt Disney Studios will take the stage on April 26 to showcase the slates from their sub-divided studios. It’s incredibly likely that they’ll show extensive footage from The Little Mermaid, which releases a month after their presentation. It’s unlikely that the studio will make any major announcements, which are generally saved for events such as SDCC or D23. Later that day, Universal and Focus Features will begin a presentation featuring an outline of their film slate, which is set to include new footage from multiple projects, with titles like Oppenheimer releasing this year.
The final studio to present at CinemaCon will be Paramount Pictures, who will have to close out the conference with a bang to follow up every other studio. They’ve had no trouble doing this in past years, so it’ll be exciting what (and who) they bring to the CinemaCon stage, as they have the next Mission: Impossible releasing this summer.
