Since the announcement that Antoine Fuqua (Director, Emancipation) would be helming a biopic about Michael Jackson, there have been constant discussions online about the casting of the King of Pop himself, and it looks like Lionsgate has found their MJ in Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson. Deadline broke the news that Jaafar Jackson, 26, son of Jermaine Jackson (brother of Michael Jackson), and has been singing and dancing for the last 14 years. In a statement posted on Twitter, Jaafar said,

“I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”

The film’s script is written by John Logan and is being produced by Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody). It’s unclear which aspects of MJ’s life will be included and which will be left out. The film is currently in pre-production, with production beginning later this year.
