'Blade' Director Bassam Tariq Exits Project

THR has confirmed that Blade Director Bassam Tariq exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. This came after earlier reports stating the same information. THR also obtained quotes from Marvel Studios and Bassam Tariq.

Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film, and we appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.
— Marvel Studios
Its been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.
— Basam Tariq

Additionally, rumors have surfaced speculating a production delay, from November 2022 to January 2023, as Marvel not only has to find a new director, but there are speculations surrounding the film’s script — as they may have added a new writer to help revise it.
